Gary Moore Jr. of Kansas State Wildcats track and field was named Big 12 Men’s Co-Athlete of the Week on Wednesday. He shared the award with BYU’s Tayvon Kitchen and became the second Wildcat to earn the honor this season, joining Tah Chikomba.
Moore Jr., a senior from New Haven, Connecticut, broke his own school record in the weight throw at the Tyson Invitational on Feb. 13 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He recorded a throw of 23.54 meters (77 feet, 2.75 inches) to finish second in the event. His mark leads the Big 12 and ranks fifth in the NCAA.
Earlier this season, Moore Jr. opened the year by breaking the school record with a 23.14-meter throw.
