A new business will open in downtown Clay Center this November. On the 26th, Enchanted Kreations will hold its ribbon-cutting ceremony at 509 Court St, where it will open its first storefront.
Owned by Elana Kreft, the business offers t-shirts, wooden signs, customized rugs, candles, and other scent options, like wax melts or simmer pots. Kreft’s Mom, Jamie McDonald, also offers natural cleaning products, like sprays or powdered carpet cleaner.
Kreft said the location will be open Tuesday and Thursday evenings as well as Saturdays to account for holiday shopping. She will host any changes on her business Facebook page.
She began the business three years ago as a side job when living out of town.
“It was something to do so I picked it up here and there and really enjoyed making a lot of different stuff,” she said. “I’ve been slowly building more into it.”

Since returning to Clay Center a year ago, Kreft said the business has overtaken her kitchen and dining room.
“When we first moved in we didn’t have our daughter and there was this office space that was perfect,” she said. “Then we had our baby and my business moved into the kitchen and kept expanding.”
Kreft often takes custom orders, she said, or provides a few items and allows customers to choose a variation. Other pieces, like candles or wax melts are pre-made and can be purchased by the scent. Her husband also helps by crafting wooden signs.
“Everything is homemade,” she said. “I use coconut soy wax and our cleaning products are natural and have a fresh scent.”
Enchanted Kreations’ signature scent, Enchanted, includes a mix of eucalyptus, lemon, and lavender. They also offer Clean Slate and Lavender Mayfield, though Kreft said she has begun to offer a larger variety to appeal to different tastes.
“I’ve started making cookie-scented candles; it’s hard because I couldn’t have that in my house,” she said. “I would just be craving cookies the whole time.”
Kreft, who works full time, said she would like to expand the business in the future by offering more products or hours. A website will soon be launched, too. She will offer DIY options, like a simmer pot station where customers can add their own ingredients to make a bag of scented dried goods – they are added to a simmering pot of water to add fragrance to a home. She will also host painting nights, which will take place once a month. However, she said the store will remain a side gig that she works around her full-time schedule.
“I’m really excited to grow what we offer and show people what we have.”
