U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D., Kansas community colleges, and the Kansas National Guard are forming a new partnership to expand the cybersecurity workforce in Kansas. Sen. Marshall recently visited Butler Community College’s cybersecurity program to observe the work community colleges are doing to train the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.
The partnership will connect community college programs with the Kansas National Guard’s 184th Wing to develop and enhance curriculum and credentialing pathways that meet both current and emerging mission needs. Participating institutions will explore innovative approaches to education and training, including stackable credentials, competency-based learning, micro-pathways, and programs designed to support Airmen, veterans, and other Kansans seeking technical and professional growth.
This collaboration aims to strengthen Kansas’s cybersecurity capabilities while providing students and service members with opportunities to gain in-demand skills and advance their careers in a rapidly evolving field.
A proclamation will be signed at 10 a.m. on January 26 in the former Secretary of State’s office at the State Capitol.
Participating community colleges include: Cloud County Community College, Butler Community College, Garden City Community College, Barton Community College, and Hutchinson Community College. Newman University is also included in the partnership.
