New Mural Announced for Common Ground Building in Downtown Clay Center

A new public art project by A Mural Movement is planned for the north wall of the Common Ground building (709 5th St.) in downtown Clay Center.

Beginning in September, artist Moses Park will transform nearly 900 sq. feet of blank wall space into a vibrant mural, directly across from the iconic Coca-Cola mural.

Park, Clay Center resident, is a roaster/resident artist at Torch Coffee Roasters.  He is also a certified Q (Quality) Grader in the coffee industry.  Park brings a cross-cultural perspective shaped by more than a decade of living in Asia. His paintings and installations have appeared in galleries from Shanghai to California. His public murals, primarily found in Southeast Asia, serve as visual meditations on renewal, hope, and the sacredness of everyday life.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to paint this mural. It’s a quiet offering—something meant to honor the people and place it belongs to.”

Fundraising is ongoing; donations for the project can be sent to A Mural Movement via the Clay Center Community Improvement Foundation or on the CCCIF website.
