Obituary-Richard Lee Lynn

Richard Lee Lynn, 75, of Concordia KS, left this world peacefully on Thursday, January 15, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 29, 1950 in Concordia, KS to Robert and Lucille Lynn.

Richard served in the US Navy from 1968-1974 during Vietnam War. He also served in the Kansas National Guard for 2 years. Richard met the love of his life Mary Ann Bates and they were united in marriage on September 6, 1970 in Concordia, KS. To this union 3 daughters were born; Christina, Lori and Lisa.

Richard worked as a custodian for USD 224 at the Clyde Grade School for 3 1/2 years. He then went to work for USD 333 as Head Custodian at the Washington Grade School for 12 years. From there he worked at the Cloud County Courthouse as Maintenance Manager for 11 years, before retiring.

He and Mary owned Lynn’s Daylight Donuts from 1998-2000 in Concordia, KS. Richard spent 13 years as a volunteer with the Concordia Fire and Ems.

Richard was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 588, Concordia Kansas, and the American Legion Post 345 Cuba, KS. He was also a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 119, Salina, KS and the Vietnam Veterans Chapter 809.

Richard loved being outdoors, you could find him tinkering in his garage or mowing his and the neighbors yards. He enjoyed spending time with his family and always put them first. He enjoyed going fishing and going to the casino with his wife.

Richard is survived by his wife Mary, of the home; daughter’s, Christina Dorman, Concordia, KS; Lori Cook, Derby, KS (Jeff) Concordia, KS; Lisa Thomas, Belleville, KS; grandchildren, Allison Krager (Taylor Knox), Clifton, KS; Cameron Krager (Jaden), Wichita, KS; Meghan Cook (Ethan Valcoure), Concordia, KS; Kiana Griffiths, Concordia, KS; Gentry Thomas, Belleville, KS; Kirby Thomas, Narka, KS; Laney Thomas, Belleville, KS; great grandchildren Bryson Flesher and Briggs Knox, Clifton, KS; Jaxon and Liam Valcoure, Concordia, KS; Bailey Thornbrugh, Belleville, KS.

Richard was preceded in death by his mother Lucille Pearce, His father Robert Lynn and his stepfather Dean Pearce, His brothers James Lynn, Tom Basnett and Darell Basnett; Sister in laws Bernita Basnett and Sue Lynn, His grandson Jacob Lynn Barleen.

Visitation will be Friday January 30, 2026 from 2pm – 8pm with family receiving friends from 6pm – 8pm at Nutter Mortuary.

Richard chose cremation, a service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday January 31, 2026, at Nutter Mortuary, Concordia, KS, with Pastor Bob Burns officiating.

Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia.
