Pasquantino and Perez Make Royals History

Vinnie Pasquantino and Salvador Perez became the first teammates in Royals history to each hit at least 30 home runs and drive in 100 runs in the same season during Kansas City’s 9-4 win over the Angels on Thursday night.

Pasquantino hit his team-leading 32nd home run in the first inning, a two-run shot off left-hander Mitch Farris, and later added his 111th RBI on a fielder’s choice. Perez reached the 100-RBI mark with a bases-clearing double in the ninth, following his 30th home run earlier in the homestand.

Pasquantino is only the fourth left-handed hitter in Royals history with a 30-homer season and the third to post 30 doubles and 30 homers in one year. Perez recorded his second career season of 30 homers and 100 RBIs.

The win moved Kansas City to 80-79 with three games left and secured a series victory over Los Angeles.
