Pasquantino Powers Royals to Win with Two Homers, Six RBIs

By Jayson Henderson

Vinnie Pasquantino drove in a career-high six runs with two home runs Friday night, leading the Royals to a 9-3 win over the Diamondbacks at Chase Field.

Pasquantino hit a three-run homer in the first inning, followed by an RBI single in the second and a two-run homer in the fourth. His big night gave Kansas City an early lead that starter Kris Bubic used to settle in. Bubic, who had received little run support all season, allowed three runs over seven innings.

The Royals finished with 14 hits, six for extra bases. Mark Canha added his first home run of the season in the fifth inning. Bobby Witt Jr. and Jonathan India also chipped in, combining for seven times on base.

The win opened the series with a strong showing from the Royals’ lineup, reversing a trend of low-scoring efforts and helping their pitching staff stay in control.
