Patrick Mahomes has been ranked the best quarterback in the NFL by Pro Football Focus (PFF) heading into the 2025 season. This marks the fifth time in six years that Mahomes has earned the top spot, with PFF missing rankings only in 2022.

Mahomes, entering his ninth NFL season and eighth as the Chiefs’ starter, had a strong 2024 campaign. He threw for 3,928 yards and 26 touchdowns, leading Kansas City to 17 wins in 19 starts and guiding the team to its fifth Super Bowl appearance with him as quarterback.

Mahomes’ consistent success is highlighted by the fact that he has never finished a season without reaching at least the AFC Championship Game in his seven completed seasons.

PFF noted that Mahomes’ mix of poise, playmaking ability, and postseason success keeps him ranked as the top quarterback entering the new season.
