Patrick Sweeney has stepped down after 22 years as head coach of the Kansas State women’s rowing team. Since joining the program in 2003, Sweeney guided K-State to steady growth, highlighted by a second-place finish at the 2014 Big 12 Championship and multiple gold medals at the SIRA Championships.
Originally from London, Sweeney focused on developing American and local athletes, helping the program grow through teaching and long-term development. His coaching career also included time with the Belgian Olympic team and Stanford before coming to Manhattan.
Kennedy Felice, a Manhattan native and former K-State rower, will take over as head coach. She served five years as an assistant under Sweeney after working as a graduate assistant.
Sweeney will remain involved in a short-term advisory role to assist with the transition. His tenure is remembered for consistent progress and strong athlete development.
