Kansas State has named Jordan Peterson as its new defensive coordinator, head coach Collin Klein announced Sunday. Peterson will also coach the Wildcats’ defensive backs.
Peterson joins K-State from Texas A&M, where he served the past two seasons as co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach. He worked alongside Klein during that time and helped guide the Aggies to an 11-2 record and a College Football Playoff appearance in 2025. Texas A&M ranked among the national leaders in third-down defense, sacks and tackles for loss this season.
Peterson brings previous Big 12 experience from stops at Kansas and Texas A&M earlier in his career. Klein said Peterson is a strong teacher and recruiter whose players respond to his leadership.
A former Texas A&M defensive back, Peterson said he and his family are excited to return to Kansas and lead the Wildcats’ defense.
