The Post Rock Extension District will host a Local Food Producer Workshop on March 10 at Fort Hays Tech North Central in Beloit. The in-person event runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with registration starting at 8:30 a.m. The workshop is designed for farmers’ market vendors, managers, and anyone interested in selling food directly to consumers.

Topics include food safety, egg, meat and poultry sales, navigating food sales tax, and a producer panel featuring local food businesses. The keynote, “From Tunnel to Table: Finding Your Niche in Specialty Crop Production,” will be presented by C&C High Tunnel Farms. Attendees can also receive free scale certification through the Kansas Department of Agriculture’s weights and measures program.

An optional Kansas Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program training at 3:15 p.m. will certify producers to accept KSFMNP checks. Registration is open through the Beloit Extension Office or the K-State Extension Local Foods website.

Regional workshops will also be held in Olathe, Hutchinson, Holton, Dodge City, Oakley, and Parsons in 2026.
