Project Update: Happy Hippie Secures Another Building Restoration Grant

With its $370,000 building restoration project nearly underway, Happy Hippie announced it secured another source of funding. On March 11th, owner Erin Glavan said she was notified of $11,200 she received from GROWKS, through Network KS.

This is in addition to $185,000 in grants that were announced earlier this month, coming from HTF and Emergency Heal. While the $185K has to be matched by Happy Hippie, the most recent grant does not, she said. In fact, it can be used as part of her half of matching funds.

The business, which consists of two original buildings erected in 1895 and 1887, respectively, will receive foundation repairs, framing work, as well as a new roof and awning.

Its historic status, for which the building is now eligible, due to upgrades that uncovered windows and repaired roof ornamentation, allowed Glavan to receive the grants.
