AquaStar (USA) Corp of Seattle, WA is recalling about 18,000 two-pound bags of Kroger Mercado Cooked Medium Peeled Tail-Off Shrimp. The shrimp may have been handled in unsanitary conditions and could be contaminated with cesium-137 (Cs-137), a radioactive substance.

Cs-137 can be found in the environment at very low levels, but long-term exposure to higher levels may increase the risk of cancer.

The recalled shrimp was sold between July 24 and August 11, 2025, at Baker’s, Gerbes, Jay C, Kroger, Mariano’s, Metro Market, Pay Less Supermarkets, and Pick ‘n Save stores in AL, AR, GA, IL, IN, KS, KY, MI, MO, MS, NE, OH, SC, TN, VA, WI, and WV.

Customers who purchased the recalled shrimp should not eat it. They should throw it away or return it for a full refund.
