Rep. Mann on Veteran Fraud Reimbursement Act and Farm Bill Needs

Rep. Tracey Mann addressed concerns from a VA Office of Inspector General report highlighting delays in reimbursing veterans who were defrauded of their benefits. He called the issue shameful and emphasized the need to protect those who served. Mann recently voted for the Veteran Fraud Reimbursement Act, which passed the House. The bill removes bureaucratic obstacles to ensure veterans receive timely compensation when targeted by fraud.

“I want to thank all our veterans across the district who served the country with honor and deserve a piece of mind when it comes to the benefits they’ve earned. It’s shameful to me that anyone would be taking advantage of our veterans. I voted earlier this week on legislation that passed the House, the Veteran Fraud Reimbursement Act, and it would remove red tape and ensure that veterans are paid back if they fall victim to fraud targeting their benefits,” said Rep. Mann.

He said the legislation has “teeth,” helping to prevent future delays—especially in cases where some veterans have passed away before being reimbursed. Feedback from Kansas veterans has been overwhelmingly positive, with many seeing the bill as a needed fix.

Mann stressed that once the legislation becomes law, congressional oversight will be key to ensuring the VA implements it correctly and efficiently.

He also noted the tough conditions farmers are facing with high input costs and low crop prices. Mann renewed his call for Congress to pass a five-year farm bill, which he’s advocated for over 35 times on the House floor, saying it’s vital for producer stability and strong crop insurance protections.
