After a week-long tour of Kansas’ Third District to observe the outcomes of her project requests, on August 9th Representative Sharice Davids joined local leaders to celebrate the success of these initiatives. The 15 projects, totaling $15.8 million for fiscal year 2024, will fund new law enforcement training vehicles, modernize roads and bridges, enhance water access during extreme weather, and more.
Before the press conference, Representative Davids visited the Johnson County Regional Police Academy to highlight the success of her project request, which secured $150,000 in federal funding. This support will enable the academy to acquire three new law enforcement training vehicles, essential for providing recruits with realistic traffic stop and driving scenario practice. This investment plays a key role in improving the training and readiness of future law enforcement officers.
“My job is to advocate for the Third District in Washington and make sure the priorities of folks in our community are being addressed,” said Davids. “Our team worked in tandem with local officials and conducted detailed reviews of each proposal to ensure they met strong standards with a high return on investment. I’ve long fought for responsible budget policies that protect taxpayers, and these investments maintain that commitment to fiscal responsibility while making a difference for Kansas.”
