During a Republic County Commissioners’ meeting, EMS director Levi Whitley reported that the Republic County EMS responded to a record 675 calls in 2025, the highest number the department has had in a single year. The department also transferred 121 patients to other hospitals during the year. He also announced the retirement of longtime EMT Jeff Smith, effective December 31, 2025.
Looking ahead, Whitley said one of his goals for 2026 is to provide more rescue training for local responders, aiming to strengthen emergency response capabilities in the area.
The report highlights the growing demands on Republic County EMS and underscores the department’s ongoing commitment to serving the community.
