River Valley District 4-H will host its 2026 District Club Day on Saturday, February 7th, at Cloud County Community College in Concordia. This annual event gives 4-Hers of all ages a chance to showcase their talents in various categories.
Melissa Baxter, 4-H Program Manager, spoke about just a few events the members can do at Club Day.
“Our 4-H’ers and Cloverbuds will be able to participate in individual events or group events.”
“We have clubs that do model meeting and gavel games. We have clubs that will do a dance or a skit. Our Cloverbuds can do a show and share, which is like show and tell at school, introducing them to public speaking.”
“We also have our AIR contest for our 16 to 18-year-olds, teaching them some great life skills about preparing to enter the workforce.”
4-H members will also have a chance to judge other 4-Hers’ work during their downtown, with some judges getting the chance to judge at the State Fair in September.
Baxter said Club Day also includes a fun activity that her Club did when she was a young member.
“We also have Pickle Power. Pickle Power is a fun little activity for the kids to participate in.”
“They’re given a real-life scenario, like if they’re seeing someone getting bullied, if they’re seeing someone doing something wrong, and in the end, they get a dill pickle.”
“Pickle Power was around when I was in 4-H, so I was excited to see us bring that to our Club Day for our kids to participate in.”
“It’s going to be a fun day, but a long day.”
4-H members who receive top purple ribbons in their events during District Club Day will participate in Regional Club Day in Clay Center at the end of March.
Club Days are a great opportunity for youth to gain and improve their skills in various events and categories, further helping kids become more confident, resilient, and prepared in life.
