Royals, Pasquantino Settle on Two-Year Deal

The Kansas City Royals avoided an arbitration hearing by agreeing to a two-year contract with first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino, the team announced Friday night.

The deal covers Pasquantino’s first two arbitration years and is worth more than $11 million guaranteed, with incentives that could raise the total. He is set to earn about $4.2 million in 2026 and $6.9 million in 2027. Pasquantino will remain arbitration eligible in 2028 before reaching free agency in 2029.

General manager J.J. Picollo said both sides had steady communication and felt the agreement provided security for the player and payroll clarity for the club.

Pasquantino, 28, is coming off a strong 2025 season, playing in 160 games and hitting 32 home runs with 113 RBIs. He ranked among the American League leaders in both categories and stayed healthy all season.

The agreement allows Pasquantino to enter Spring Training without contract uncertainty as the Royals prepare for another competitive year.
