Key contributions from Kansas City Royals prospects helped the Surprise Saguaros rally past the Peoria Javelinas, 9–4, to win the 2025 Arizona Fall League championship Friday at Salt River Fields.
Royals catcher Blake Mitchell (MLB No. 62) played a major role in the comeback. He delivered a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning, then singled and scored the tying run during Surprise’s seven-run eighth. Infielder Daniel Vazquez added a hit and scored twice, continuing the steady production he provided throughout the season.
Milwaukee prospect Josh Adamczewski tied the game with a two-run double, and Guardians prospect Juan Benjamin drove in the go-ahead runs. Pitcher Edwin Jimenez closed with two scoreless innings to secure the title.
The championship is Surprise’s third in four years and highlighted another strong AFL showing from the Royals’ emerging talent.
