Royals Reacquire Adam Frazier to Add Veteran Presence

Kansas City made a move Wednesday, trading minor league infielder Cam Devanney to the Pittsburgh Pirates for Adam Frazier. The Royals hope Frazier will bring veteran leadership and a steady bat to their bench as the second half of the season begins.

Frazier played for Kansas City last year but struggled offensively, hitting just .202. This season, with Pittsburgh, he’s improved to a .255 average and is hitting .310 with runners on base. The Royals have had trouble scoring in key situations and believe Frazier’s experience will help.

General Manager J.J. Picollo said the team values Frazier’s clubhouse presence and ability to deliver “professional at-bats” late in games. The Royals’ young bench currently lacks veterans, making this a needed addition.

The Royals enter the second half of the season with a 47-50 record, sitting 4 ½ games out of a Wild Card spot.
