The Kansas Impact Coalition announced that a new community resource, the Salina Sharing Fridge & Freezer, opens Tuesday, Oct. 28, at the Salvation Army (1137 N. Santa Fe Ave). The units will be available during regular Salvation Army hours and evening dinners, providing free access to meals, fresh produce, dairy, and frozen foods for those in need.
Media and community members are invited Monday evening for the installation of the units and a first look at the project. The fridge and freezer will be restocked twice a week, with donations welcomed at the Salvation Army. The initiative is a collaboration between the Salvation Army and the Smoky Hill Equality Coalition, led by community organizer Zi Jensen.
The project aims to strengthen community connections while ensuring Salina residents have access to nutritious meals.
