Schmidt Celebrates Advancement of Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act, Expanding Rights for Kansans Nationwide

On March 25, Congressman Derek Schmidt released a statement after the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act passed the House Judiciary Committee. The bill, which Schmidt co-sponsored, would allow Kansans to carry concealed firearms across the country.

“I’m very glad our committee has advanced the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act, which builds upon the work I did as Attorney General to expand the number of states that recognize Kansas concealed carry permits,” Congressman Schmidt said. “Kansans should be able to freely exercise their constitutional rights no matter which state they’re in. I proudly cosponsored this important legislation during my first days in office and look forward to voting for it on the House floor.”

H.R. 38, the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act, was originally introduced by Congressman Richard Hudson. The bill would amend current law to allow Kansans and residents of other states with state-issued concealed carry licenses or permits to carry a concealed handgun in any state. It would also permit residents of constitutional carry states to carry concealed handguns in other states.
