On May 15th, Wildflower Studio in Clay Center will host a Selfcare and Sparkle event. Geared toward pre-teens and their guardians, it will cover haircare best practices as well as skincare tips for girls third through fifth grade.
Owner Dani Lehman said she put together the event after talking with her customers and realizing a common theme about girls and the learning curve of taking care of their changing hygiene needs.
“Our plan is for mommas and daughters to have a fun evening together learning all about beauty,” she said.
Lehman said events are a fun way to interact with customers and she wanted a multi-age way to kick off the summer.
The event will cover Q&A on topics like properly shampooing and conditioning their hair, as well as basic skin and nail care.
“It’s the little things like how much shampoo to use and where to apply our conditioner,” she said. “Then also getting the products properly rinsed out.”
She will also cover sunscreen use, and the correct types of products based on age and type of skin or hair.
In addition, the event can help give some clout to moms who attend, she said.
“You know, sometimes mommas don’t know what they are talking about,” she joked. “So, hearing it from someone else and hearing it together may be a fun way to bond. My hope is that the girls leave confident to start the transition to their own personal beauty routines.”
The event does cost and attendees should RSVP. Due to the nature of the event, Lehman said it will be limited to a small amount of attendees. In addition, pre-teen guests will receive a mini facial, cuticle and nail care, have their hair curled, and a bag of goodies. They should arrive with clean, dry hair. Mocktails and snacks will be available for all attendees, guardians included.
The event will be held May 15th at 5:30. Guests can call or message the salon’s Facebook page to sign up.
