On Sunday, November 9, U.S. Senator Jerry Moran, chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, asked the Senate to quickly approve a bill he introduced with Senator Richard Blumenthal, the committee’s top Democrat. The bill ensures that disability payments and other financial benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for veterans and their families keep up with inflation. The Senate approved the bill unanimously, and it now moves to the U.S. House of Representatives.

The Veterans’ Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act of 2025 (COLA) will raise certain VA benefits by 2.8%. This includes disability compensation, clothing allowances, and payments to surviving spouses and children. The increase helps these benefits keep up with the cost of living and matches the annual Social Security adjustments.
