Senators Applaud Passage of Veterans Expedited TSA Screening Act, Expanding PreCheck Access to Disabled Veterans

U.S. Senators Roger Marshall, M.D., Todd Young Tammy Duckworth, and Maggie Hassan praised the signing of their bipartisan Veterans Expedited TSA Screening (VETS) Safe Travel Act into law. This legislation expands the TSA PreCheck program to veterans with service-connected disabilities, including amputees, the paralyzed, and the blind, providing them with expedited airport security screening.

Currently, TSA PreCheck is available to active duty, reserve, and National Guard members at no cost. The new law ensures that eligible veterans, who often face difficulties navigating airport security with mobility aids like prosthetics or wheelchairs, can access the same service. Under the VETS Safe Travel Act, the Department of Veterans Affairs will verify veteran eligibility, and TSA will process applications for PreCheck at no charge, pending a background check and interview.

The law is supported by various veteran organizations, including the Wounded Warrior Project, Paralyzed Veterans of America, and Disabled American Veterans.
