Recent Kansas State graduate Serena Sundell will join the USA Basketball 3 on 3 Women’s Nations League Team at the FIBA 3×3 (3 on 3) Youth Nations League Americas event in Punta Arenas, Chile, from July 21 to 27.
FIBA, short for the International Basketball Federation, is the world governing body for basketball. It organizes international competitions and sets official rules for the sport. The Youth Nations League is one of its global tournaments, aimed at developing young talent and serving as a pathway to the 2025 FIBA 3×3 U23 World Cup. In Chile, teams will compete in six mini-tournaments over seven days, with new standings each day and a mix of pool play and championship rounds. The event is part of the Americas 2 Conference.
Sundell, a standout from Maryville, Missouri, played four seasons at Kansas State University. She left with school records in assists and games played, led the nation in assists per game last season, and scored over 500 points. She was drafted by the Seattle Storm in the 2025 WNBA Draft.
Earlier this summer, Sundell helped lead Team B&B to victory at the 3XBA Spokane tournament, part of the 3×3 Basketball Association’s professional women’s tour. The win earned them a $20,000 prize and a spot in the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series stop in Edmonton, Canada, scheduled for July 31 to August 3, 2025.
3XBA gives players — especially those not on WNBA rosters — opportunities to compete professionally, improve their skills, and earn FIBA ranking points. Their Spokane event was held during Hoopfest, the world’s largest outdoor 3-on-3 tournament. The 3XBA series also acts as a qualifier for FIBA’s official international competitions.
