Seven conservation organizations have been selected to receive Commission Big Game Hunting Permits through a drawing by Kansas Wildlife and Parks Commissioners on January 30. The program allows Kansas-based nonprofit groups focused on wildlife conservation and outdoor heritage to apply for one of seven permits.
Winning organizations can sell the permits to raise funds for conservation efforts in Kansas, typically through raffles or auctions. They keep 15% of the sale proceeds, while the remaining 85% is held by the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks until an approved conservation project is selected.
Past projects funded by these permits include wetland improvements at Cheyenne Bottoms Wildlife Area and youth hunting programs.
Based on applicant preference, seven deer permits were awarded to the following conservation groups for 2025:
