Seventeen Kansas State University Graduate Students Awarded Research Grants from Johnson Cancer Research Center

Seventeen graduate students from Kansas State University have received competitive research awards from the Johnson Cancer Research Center. The center awarded fifteen Cancer Research Awards and two Graduate Cancer Research Scholarship and Support Awards, made possible by generous private donations.

The Graduate Cancer Research Scholarship and Support Award, funded anonymously through the Topeka Community Foundation, offers up to $75,000 per student to cover living expenses, travel, and other education-related costs. This support helps students pursue cancer research and advance their careers.

The Graduate Cancer Research Awards assist students conducting cancer-related research under the guidance of center faculty. These awards support both the students’ projects and their mentors’ research programs, based on research quality, relevance to cancer, and additional funding success.

Awardees will be recognized at a banquet in April. The Kansas Graduate Cancer Research Scholarship and Support recipients are Grant Brooke, a doctoral student in biology, and Daniel Eckerberg, a master’s student in nuclear engineering.
