By Payton Tholstrup

The City of Concordia has named Shane Kisby as the new Director of Public Works.

Kisby has a strong work ethic and a variety of work experience that will help him lead the Public Works Department. “We are pleased to bring Shane on board. His desire to learn and work alongside his team shown through during his interview, as did his knee eye for detail and pride in a job well done. I believe his experience working in private industry will provide a good perspective and will ultimately benefit the citizens of Concordia,” Amy Lange, City Manager, stated.

Kisby graduated from Clifton-Clyde High School. He has a degree in Natural Resource Management from Kansas State University and has spent the past nine years working for Republican Valley Landscape. He currently lives in Aurora, Kansas with his wife Amber and their family.

When he was asked about this new career opportunity, he said, “To quote Steve Jobs, ‘The only way to do great work is to love what you do.’” He shared that he is excited to work with the department and help make Concordia an even better place.

He will officially start his new role on Tuesday, February 13th, 2024. He will be responsible for a variety of job duties including both administrative and supervisory tasks in planning, directing, and participating in the maintenance and improvement of the city. That includes paved and unpaved streets, alleys, storm drains, city-owned fueling stations, city fleet vehicles and equipment, airport operations and improvements, and traffic control systems.
