The federal government shutdown ended on Nov. 12 after new funding was signed into law, keeping the government running through January 2026. This funding also fully covers SNAP Food Assistance through the end of the federal fiscal year on Sept. 30, 2026.

December SNAP benefits will be issued starting Dec. 1 and will roll out over 10 days based on last name.

On Nov. 7, DCF sent out full November SNAP benefits to Kansas residents. These benefits should have appeared on EBT cards by the end of the day. In total, more than $31.6 million in benefits went to about 86,000 Kansas households for November.

For SNAP recipients who fall under the Able-Bodied Adults Without Dependents (ABAWD) time-limit rules, November will not count toward their time limit. On Nov. 13, the USDA told states not to count November 2025 as a month toward ABAWD time limits.
