State troopers issued over 2,100 warnings and citations for speeding on Kansas highways during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) press release on December 2. The enforcement period ran from 6 p.m. on November 27 to midnight on December 1. During this time, KHP made more than a dozen DUI arrests and responded to a fatal crash in Nemaha County.
The total number of citations and warnings included 13 DUI arrests, 1,135 speed citations, 1,042 speed warnings, 86 safety belt citations, 7 safety belt warnings, 3 teen safety belt citations, no teen safety belt warnings, and 22 child restraint citations. In addition, KHP provided 893 motorist assists.
