Structure Fire at 4816 Freeman Road in Riley County

Riley Co., Kan. — At approximately 9:38 p.m. Sunday evening, Riley County Fire District #1 was dispatched to a structure fire at 4618 Freeman Road. The call was made by a neighbor. When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke visible and a deep seated fire inside the single family home.

Volunteer firefighter crews from stations 103,104,105,112, 115,116, two Deputy Chiefs, and Riley County Emergency Medical Services responded to the incident.

Approximately 24 personnel worked to extinguish the fire which was brought under control just before 11:00 p.m. Crews performed fire attack and searched the home for life. One pet dog was lost in this fire. No other injuries were reported. The residence was not occupied at the time of the fire.

The cause is under investigation and a damage estimate is not available at this time.
