Kansas State athletic director Gene Taylor discussed recent changes and future plans during the latest “Ask the AD” session released Friday.
Taylor reflected on a busy week that included celebrating Chris Klieman’s tenure and hiring Colin Klein as head football coach. He said Klein has already begun building his staff while balancing other responsibilities.
Taylor explained how success is evaluated across sports, noting it is not based on fixed win totals but on progress, effort, and long-term direction. He also addressed revenue topics, including jersey patches, field advertising, naming rights, and alcohol sales, saying those options are being explored but take time.
On donations, Taylor said most funds flow through the Ahearn Fund and are distributed across programs, including revenue sharing and scholarships. He added K-State is actively working to strengthen its NIL efforts.
Taylor also commented on conference realignment, saying the Big 12 is well positioned, and noted future discussions on basketball jersey retirements are ongoing.
