Manhattan Christian College claimed its first NCCAA Division II Women’s Volleyball National Championship on Saturday, sweeping Bob Jones University 25-16, 25-16, 25-12. The Thunder dropped only one set in the entire tournament.
Clay Center natives Hali Clark and Jacey Schurle, both senior middle hitters, played major roles in the win. Clark, a former NCCAA First Team All-American and 2025 Central Region Second Team honoree, contributed a key block in set two that helped MCC take control. Schurle, a 2025 Central Region First Team selection and former Region MVP, added steady offense and recorded the final kill of the match. She previously led MCC in kills and blocks during the 2024 season.
The Thunder opened the third set on a 5-0 run and never trailed. Abby Blake was named Tournament Most Outstanding Player as MCC completed its championship season.
