Kansas State baseball had two players chosen on the final day of the 2025 Major League Baseball Draft. Shortstop Maximus Martin was picked by the Boston Red Sox in the 10th round, 298th overall. Left-handed pitcher Jacob Frost followed, selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers with the 315th pick.
Martin, a freshman from Edgewater Park, New Jersey, had a strong first season at K-State. He hit .320 with a .420 on-base percentage and a .612 slugging percentage. Martin led the team with 18 doubles and 14 home runs, tying for fourth in single-season program history. He earned First Team All-Region and Second Team All-Big 12 honors and was nationally recognized as a top shortstop.
Frost, from St. Louis, Missouri, finished his second season earning All-Big 12 honors. He struck out 75 batters and held opponents to a .238 batting average, eighth-best in the conference. Frost recorded a career-high 10 strikeouts against rival Kansas and helped the Wildcats throw a no-hitter in 2024.
Head coach Pete Hughes is in his seventh season leading the Wildcats. Hughes is the winningest active Big 12 baseball coach with 820 career victories, and he is the only active NCAA coach to have led four Power 4 programs: Trinity, Boston College, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma, and now Kansas State. Under his leadership, K-State has seen 12 players drafted in the first 10 rounds, with 89 total draft picks during his tenure.
Last season, Hughes guided K-State to its sixth straight winning season and the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2013, reaching the NCAA Super Regional. Known for strong recruiting and player development, Hughes has produced 22 Major Leaguers during his coaching career.
