Athletic and academic traditions run deep for graduates of Concordia High School. On Friday, USD 333 recognized the family of William (Bill) Dotson for their sponsorship of the Panther Legacy digital kiosk in memory of Bill’s many honors in track & field.

The Panther Legacy Hall is a new area showcasing the success of individuals and teams throughout the history of CHS. Just north of the main gym, the large digital kiosk exhibits individual athletic awards and team championships, as well as fine arts and Humanities awards of CHS students.

Panther Legacy Hall showcases the storied history of Bill Dotson, along with other individuals and teams. Bill Dotson was a 1958 graduate of Concordia High School. He was the 1958 Kansas State Class A record holder in the mile run. Furthering his education at KU, Bill was the 1960 Big 8 Conference Champion in the Mile Run, 1960 and 1961 Big 8 Conference Champion in Cross Country and the Mile Run, and 1962 Big 8 Conference Champion in the 800 meter. During his 1961 and 62 seasons, Bill reached All-American status in the Mile Run, as well as breaking the 4-minute mark in the mile during the 1962 season. In 1963, Bill represented the United States in the 800 meter at the Pan American Games. He was inducted into the Kansas Athletics Hall of Fame and the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame.

USD 333 wished to thank members of the Bill Dotson family for their contribution to honor the legacy of CHS athletes. Future plans include an additional kiosk near the auditorium to exhibit vocal and instrumental music, academic honors, and distinguished alumni.
