Walmart has opened its first-ever owned and operated case-ready beef facility in Olathe, Kansas, marking a major step in strengthening its Angus beef supply chain. The new 300,000+ square-foot facility will package and distribute Angus beef sourced from Sustainable Beef LLC in North Platte, Nebraska, which Walmart invested in during 2022. Sustainable Beef focuses on locally sourced cattle within a 250-mile radius, ensuring high-quality beef for Walmart stores across the Midwest.
This facility will create over 600 jobs in the Olathe area and support local suppliers, boosting the regional economy. During the grand opening, Walmart awarded grants totaling $90,000 to local organizations including Kansas Special Olympics, Boys & Girls Club of Greater Kansas City, Friends In Service of Heroes, and Mayor Bacon’s Book Club.
The facility reflects Walmart’s commitment to supply chain transparency, quality, and U.S. manufacturing, supporting its goal to invest $350 billion in American-made products by 2031.
