The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is alerting residents about a man who reportedly posed as a mortgage company representative. According to a Facebook post from the Sheriff’s Office, the man knocked on a resident’s door claiming he had been sent by their mortgage provider to perform an occupancy check. He did not provide his name or the name of the company and appeared “nervous and vague,” leaving shortly after a brief conversation.

The resident was able to get a picture of the man’s vehicle, which is described as a newer white Nissan or Kia.

Authorities urge anyone who encounters a similar situation to report it immediately and remind residents to stay cautious.
