Washington, Kan. — Grocery stores over the past few years have seen empty shelves at times for some products while not being able to order those in to fill the vacant spots.
While COVID-19 appears to enter an endemic phase, supply chain issues continue. One large reason causing the shortage of items is a labor shortage. However, the shelves aren’t sitting completely empty.
Anna Meadows with Kiers Thriftway in Washington, said overall their shelves stay pretty full.
When it comes to prices, Meadows says that every day they see a new price increase.
She continued that there isn’t much that hasn’t gone up in price.
A large reason behind the shortages of items is due to labor shortages.
