Kansas Secretary of State Scott Schwab joined other Secretaries of State at the White House this week for a bipartisan meeting about election security. The group focused on how states and federal agencies can better share data to keep voter registration lists accurate.

Schwab has pushed for access to federal data like the Social Security death index and immigration records to help identify voters who have died or are not U.S. citizens. He has made similar requests to past presidents.

This meeting was one of the first times Secretaries of State were formally invited to talk with federal officials about sharing this kind of information. Schwab said the meeting was an important step in helping voters trust the election system.

He also thanked President Trump for making the issue a national priority and providing more support than past administrations.
