Wildcats Drop Big 12 Opener at TCU

K-State opened Big 12 play Saturday with a 77-55 loss at ninth-ranked TCU at Schollmaier Arena. The Horned Frogs extended their home winning streak to 34 games while improving to 12-1 overall.

K-State fell to 7-7 and 0-1 in conference play. Junior guard Taryn Sides and sophomore forward Jenessa Cotton led the Wildcats with 10 points apiece. TCU was paced by graduate guard Olivia Miles, who scored a game-high 29 points.

The Wildcats led briefly in the first quarter but trailed 20-15 after one period following a late TCU run. The Horned Frogs stretched the lead in the second quarter and went into halftime ahead 39-26. TCU outscored K-State 20-11 in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.

K-State shot 33.3 percent from the field and 17.4 percent from three-point range. The Wildcats return home to host Cincinnati on December 31.
