Wildcats Fall in Overtime to Drake, 73-70

Kansas State lost to Drake 73-70 in overtime at the 13th Wildcat Classic. After trailing by 20 points in the first half, K-State (6-4) fought back to take a 60-57 lead late in regulation. However, Drake (10-0) tied the game with 23 seconds left, forcing overtime. In the extra period, the Bulldogs built a 70-64 lead before K-State tied it at 70 on a 3-pointer by senior Coleman Hawkins. With 4 seconds remaining, Drake’s Bennett Stirtz hit a 3-pointer to give his team the win. Hawkins led K-State with 16 points, while senior David N’Guessan added 13. This was K-State head coach Jerome Tang’s first overtime loss in his career. The Wildcats will next play Wichita State.
