Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. placed fourth in the 2025 American League MVP voting, the results announced Thursday by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America. It marks his second straight top-five finish after coming in second last season.
Aaron Judge won the award for the second year in a row, followed by Cal Raleigh and José Ramírez. Witt received 215 points and appeared on all 30 ballots.
Witt posted a .295/.351/.501 line with 23 home runs, 38 stolen bases, and a Major League-leading 184 hits and 47 doubles. His 8.0 fWAR and 7.1 bWAR each ranked third in the AL. He also won his second straight Gold Glove at shortstop and his first Platinum Glove.
The Royals see Witt as the centerpiece of their competitive window, and his continued production reinforces that view.
