Alex Schnell Takes Ownership of Lamunyon Dry Out & Foundation Repair

By: Ryan Duey

As of May 1st, a familiar face took ownership of Lamunyon Dry Out & Foundation Repair in Clay Center. Alex Schnell, former General Manager, purchased the business from long-time owners and founders Mike and Arlene Lamunyon.

The Lamunyons started Lamunyon Dry Out & Foundation Repair in 1973. In the beginning, the location was a window cleaning/janitorial business, growing into the business it is now over the years.

Schnell has been with Lamunyon for 13 years, starting as a restoration technician, working his way up to General Manager, where he had been for eight years.  He said the idea of taking over the business came up about a year ago.

“The owners were looking to retire. I made the offer to buy the company from him almost a year ago now.”

“Last November, he came to me and asked if I would still be interested in that offer. I agreed, so we had been working on it since November, and as of May 1st, I took ownership.”

Schnell said Lamunyon provides services throughout the state of Kansas. His plans are to grow the company, further supporting the community.

“My plan is to continue trying to grow the business. We currently support 20 local families.”

“I would like to see that grow, and be able to support the community in other ways; be more involved in the community, more community activities, things of that nature, just to show our support for our local community.”
