Preliminary estimates reported by the Labor Market Information Division of the Kansas Department of Labor and the Bureau of Labor Statistics show a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 3.8% in March, which is unchanged from February.
The unemployment rate in Clay County slightly decreased from 3.8% in February to 3.6% in March. Across the area, the jobless rate in Dickinson County stayed unchanged at 3.9%. Cloud County dropped from 3.7% to 3.5%. Marshall County dropped 0.2%, to 3.4%. Republic County had a small increase, from 2.8% to 2.9%, in a month. Washington County dropped from 4.2% to 3.7%.
Seasonally adjusted job estimates for Kansas indicate total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 900 from February. Total nonfarm includes private sector and government employers. Private sector jobs increased by 600 over the month, while government jobs increased by 300.
