Response Over Wind Farm Lawsuit Filed by Dickinson County Commissioners

Dickinson County Commissioners have responded to a lawsuit filed by residents opposing the approval of the Hope Ridge Wind Farm in Dickinson County.

The lawsuit challenges the board’s 2-1 decision in late 2024 to approve the construction of the 54,500-acre wind farm. The county’s response, filed on January 22nd, addressed each claim in the lawsuit, either denying or admitting them, mainly acknowledging statements related to the county’s zoning regulations.

The plaintiffs filed their petition on December 16th, after the County Commission approved the Conditional Use Permit (CUP) on December 12th. The CUP had been approved earlier on November 21st, with only Commissioner Lynn Peterson dissenting.
