The Riley County Police Department (RCPD) is pleased to announce the promotion of Erin Freidline to Assistant Director, effective January 1, 2025. Freidline, a highly respected leader within the department, will succeed Assistant Director Kurt Moldrup, who has served in the role with distinction.
CPT Freidline began her career with the Riley County Police Department in June 2000 as a Dispatcher, transitioning to a Patrol Officer in 2001. Over the course of her 24-year career, she has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to public safety, leading in various capacities, including School Resource Officer, Detective, and the Special Investigations Unit.
Freidline was promoted to Sergeant in 2007, overseeing both patrol and detective units. In 2013, she advanced to the rank of Lieutenant, where she led the evening patrol shift and supervised detectives, Crime Scene Investigations (CSI), and the Evidence unit. In 2018, Freidline was promoted to Captain, serving as Commander of the Support Division, and in 2021, she returned to Investigations as Commander, where she continues to lead with distinction.
Her career has been marked by numerous accolades, including a 2004 Life Saving Award and a 2006 Commendation. She has received numerous compliments from citizens and other agencies, recognizing her dedication and professionalism.
Freidline holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Kansas State University and a master’s degree in Executive Leadership from Liberty University. She is also a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy (264th Session) in Quantico, Virginia, where she received advanced training in management and command. Additionally, Freidline was selected as a National Institute of Justice LEADS scholar, a recognition of her leadership in law enforcement.

As Assistant Director, Freidline will play a crucial role in the strategic direction of the department, helping to oversee operations and guide the department’s future. Her promotion is a testament to her hard work, leadership, and the trust placed in her by her colleagues and the community.
