Senior Center for Clay County

Clay County, KS-  A survey is going to be conducted in Clay County for everyone 60 and older for the need and desires for a senior center.
Donna Long the President of Clay County Task Force, Inc. spoke to the Clay County Commissioners Monday morning and said that they will go check out the Abilene Senior Center this fall.

According to Long, Clay County has the worst facilities for seniors above any county in the state of Kansas.

The leisure center that Clay County had before didn’t work, and Long says it’s because it wasn’t big enough to do things, wasn’t inviting, and that the activities weren’t interesting. From a board meeting that was held, and 15 attendees, they stated what was important to them.

And while many of the physical activities can be done at the Wellness Center, Long stated that they aren’t always geared towards seniors.
