On August 1st, the Miltonvale business, Star Ave. Salon & Spa, saw a new employee join its ranks. Lindsey Forslund is offering haircuts and nail services. The latter, she said, is a passion in her career. With more than 15 years of experience, Forslund worked in Independence, KS for more than a decade, including owning her own business.
“Color had never been my first love in life,” she said. “I was basically working as a full-time nail tech and that’s what I really love. That’s what I’m focusing on here.”
Forslund grew up between Miltonvale and Clay Center, and recently returned to the area with her daughter, Tayla, who is in 5th grade.
Though she herself graduated from CCCHS, she said Miltonvale feels like home.
“I kind of feel like I grew up more in Miltonvale than I did in Clay Center even though I went to school there.
“Coming back here has been a breath of fresh air so I’m excited to see what changes,” she said. “I love it so far and I’m working on rebuilding my clientele.”
Working at Starr Ave., which has been in business since 2013, Forslund said she has done some marketing events like giving away Longford Rodeo tickets. The Salon will also host a come-and-go event on Sept. 26th with giveaways, new retail, snacks, and freebies.
“We’re excited to just get the doors open to the public so they can see if if they’ve never been in,” she said.
The salon tour will take place between 4-6 pm and is open to the public.
“I love it here, my whole family’s here so to be back in the area and to be close to family is really awesome,” she said. “I’ve been able to reconnect with a lot of people.”
