In a not-so-common occurrence, two election positions in Washington County were determined by a drawing during the Washington County Commissioners meeting this week.

The Haddam City Mayor position and a Linn City Council position we decided by drawing names of tied write-in candidates due to nobody formally filing for the positions.

The Haddam City Mayor position had three write-in candidates who received the same number of votes. After the drawing, Michael Welch won the position of Mayor.

For the Linn City Council position, four people received the same number of write-in votes. In the end, Tyson Hynek was drawn as the winner for the council position.

During the meeting, Commissioners also accepted or denied six provisional ballots.
